Logging

Winter Warmer

Staff at The Woodman prepare for those long cosy evenings in front of the fire.

The log fires in the restaurant help create the warm cosy atmosphere for which The Woodman is well known and staff ensure that there are sufficient logs to keep the fires burning. This delivery of several tons of logs being re-cycled from a fallen tree kept Tim, Paul, Chris and Pete busy for several days cutting and splitting the logs.

Now with an ample supply customers can enjoy the warmth and atmosphere of real log fires throughout the Winter.

Woodcutter

The Woodcutter Returns

A familiar face is returning to the Kentish countryside. The carved solid wood figure of a woodcutter, for many years a stalwart at The Woodman is to take up his place again following pleas from local people. The woodcutter was due to get the axe as part of the recent refurbishment but is now being restored to his former glory.

"The pub is once again set to become a focal point of the local community so it seemed right that the old woodcutter with which the pub has long been associated should be returned to his rightful place."

"There is a lot of history associated with The Woodman and we are interested to hear of any local folklore associated with the pub or stories about the characters who have frequented it over the years."

We would particularly like to discover the whereabouts of a jackal, allegedly stuffed after being hunted down and shot close to the Woodman in 1905, after a spate of attacks on sheep.
